Seth Harry and Associates, with Ruth Landsman, Architect were originally contacted by the Owner of this project when it was in its initial concept stage. Over the course of several years we developed a prototypical facility to plan the future design of this multi-faceted program which included offering not just equine assisted therapies but also occupational, physical, speech therapies along with facilities to accommodate local school programs. The prototypical design was used for fund raising and provided a mechanism to explain the facility to interested parties and regulatory agencies.
After a farm site was donated to the program, we worked with Leg-Up to design the facility to fit the new site. The design took advantage of the rural site and the opportunities to have the program participate in agricultural activities. Innovative in its design, the facility was sited to take advantage of the existing land contours and minimize disturbance to the site.
