Middletown, MD
This project entails the conversion of a century-old barn and 1960s vintage hardware store addition into a farm-to-table restaurant and market concept.
The design concept embraces the existing building's spare utilitarian style while adding new design elements intended to enhance the building's street presence, and better reflect its proposed use.
The new look transforms the vintage store into a modern, light-filled dining environment, with an adjoining outdoor patio with café seating, shaded pergola structure and outdoor fireplace for three-season appeal. The historic barn is repurposed as a contemporary farmers market, featuring locally-sourced farm goods and prepared foods. The market’s roll-up doors allow an indoor/outdoor feel, while a shared stair hall provides convenient and direct access between the rear parking area and the lower-level restaurant in front.
