ESTERO, FL COMMUNITY PLANNING

In early­ 2013, Seth Harry and Associates was asked to lead a review and update of the Estero Community’s strategic goals, in light of anticipated changes in the local real estate market, based on both the ongoing economic recovery at that time, and emerging trends in consumer demand. As part of that effort, the firm undertook a series of scenario-based planning exercises to show how the community could incorporate these market-based initiatives into a more comprehensive planning and land-use approach, which would – by definition – result in a more sustainable growth model for the community’s remaining developable land, based on the principles of walkable, mixed-use, transit-supportive development.

It is hoped that the result of that work, a community-scale plan which envisions three distinct mixed-use “nodes”placed along the existing US-41 corridor, will provide a basis for the recently incorporated Estero’s land-use and transportation based policies, moving forward.
