This work represents a preliminary design proposal for the expansion/repositioning of an existing in- town shopping center in an historic city center, undertaken as an internal exercise. The design concept was intended to strike a balance between the historic context, and the more contemporary shopping experience sought by the client, through the creative interpretation of traditional urban forms.
The plan is also designed to accentuate and support an array of unique merchandising districts within the overall tenant mix, using place-making principles to enhance the visual and emotional impact of the individual shopping and dining precints.
